Fake diamonds conjure certain images: cliches of cheap stones and fading shine, glass reflections. They make us believe in poor quality and poorer reactions, casting judgments on both the price and the gesture itself. We think that they prove no effort, only a minimal affection. After all, true love is offered with true jewels. Isn’t it?
Not always.
There is no doubt in the beauty of genuine diamonds. There is also no doubt, however, of the cost. They can rise into the thousands, forcing us to pay what we cannot afford, forcing us to hoard every penny in anticipation. And often there are far more important things to buy.
Which is why fake diamonds become the perfect solution. These are not, despite the image cemented in our minds, ugly pieces, made gaudy by their falseness. They are not easy to spy. They are not cracked or chipped or obvious. They are instead equal in cut, style and shimmer. They are made to emulate, not distract. The only difference lies in their prices.
For those without the luxury of an endless wallet, for those who must scramble to save, there is no… logic in throwing so much money toward a piece of jewelry. Yes, the symbolism is essential but so is the ability to afford it. Fake is not synonymous with wrong. It is merely an alternative for those who need one.
And that is well worth the cost.
Diamonds may be forever, but so are memories. Make them good ones.
